Council of research assistants and doctoral candidates meets at the new Kulmbach campus
09.03.2026
The Council of Academic Staff and Doctoral Candidates at the University of Bayreuth held its most recent meeting at the newly established Kulmbach Campus. The committee, which is enshrined in the university's constitution and currently has 28 members, comprises, among others, the elected representatives on faculty councils, the senate and the university council, the members of the presidential commissions, the spokesperson for the doctoral student representatives of the University of Bayreuth Graduate School, and the women's representatives of this status group.
The meeting was organised by spokesperson Dr Michael Gleißner, his deputy Dr Brit-Maren Schjeide and his deputy Dr Steffen Schmidt. The focus was on the further development of the Kulmbach site. Dr Susanne Strebin, coordinator of the Kulmbach campus, presented the history of its founding, the current professorships, the degree programmes and the future expansion plans.
As a sign of its close ties to the main campus in Bayreuth, the convention also meets regularly at the Kulmbach off-site location – the current meeting was already the second of its kind.
Afterwards, the members were given a tour of the campus's lecture halls and laboratories, including areas in the Alte Spinnerei and Fritz buildings. This gave them a first-hand impression of the dynamic development of the young location and its excellent infrastructure.
